Hi, We’re Nicole & Joe 👋
Kitchen Unveiled was born in our own kitchen — from our love of spending time together, cooking side by side, tasting as we go and sharing good food with the people we love. It’s a love story, really: for each other, for food, and for the table where everyone gathers.
Our story
Neither of us went to culinary school. We’re home cooks who got a little obsessed. We learn from great chefs, cookbooks and cuisines from all over the world, then bring those ideas home and try them ourselves.
Nicole’s passion eventually became her everyday life: she left her full-time job to cook, test and write for Kitchen Unveiled. Joe still works, but he’s in the kitchen whenever he can — and he never misses a tasting. We truly believe the art of cooking belongs to everyone: you don’t need a title, just curiosity, practice and a little love.
Who does what
👩🍳 Nicole: the cook & recipe tester
Nicole develops and tests the recipes, digs into techniques and world cuisines, and writes most of what you read here. She keeps cooking and refining the recipes on this site in our own kitchen.
🍽️ Joe: the taster & presentation guy
Joe has a soft spot for beautiful plates and an honest palate. He helps in the kitchen when he can, takes care of plating and presentation, and is our official taste tester. When he says “make it again,” we know we’ve got a winner.
How we develop our recipes
Each recipe starts from trusted references and proven techniques, and is written with clear steps and everyday ingredients. Nicole then cooks the recipes in our home kitchen, sometimes after they’re published, and we update them whenever something can be clearer or better.
- Everyday ingredients. If you can’t find something at a regular grocery store, we suggest a substitute.
- Real timings. Prep and cook times are checked against reliable references and updated once we’ve made the dish.
- Clear steps. We write each recipe so a beginner can follow it and still get a great result.
- Honest notes. If something can go wrong, we tell you how to avoid it.
How we review kitchen gear
We can’t test every kitchen product we share on our site ourselves. Some we have tested, and they carry a dated Kitchen-tested ✓ mark. For the others, we do our homework: we compare real alternatives side by side, check manufacturer specifications, read what verified buyers say and weigh ratings against price. We judge each pick on what matters in a home kitchen: how well it’s likely to work, how easy it is to use and clean, how long it’s likely to last, and whether it’s worth the price. When a brand sends us something, we always say so. You’ll find the details in How We Work. And if a tool isn’t worth your money, we’ll tell you.
